Safety & Security of Remote Workplaces in 2021

Every year, the Home Office Safety & Security week (in the second week of January) serves as a reminder to recognize the safety and security concerns that may arise when working from home. Whether your organization is a for-profit, a non-profit, a church, or a school, there are various areas that can leave yourself, your employees/staff, and members/participants exposed to cyberthreats, physical discomfort, and mental exhaustion.

This month, pay attention to the risks that come with transforming your work and meeting places into a cyberspace. It is, in fact, crucial to the well-being of all participants of your organization that they remain protected while working and meeting remotely.

Here are a few tips that can help minimize the risks involved with working and meeting online:

  1. Encourage employees and members to set up ergonomic workstations and comfortable desk/home office set-ups. One of the perks of meeting online is that one can do so from the comfort of their own homes - provided that comfort does not disrupt an otherwise successful meeting.

  2. Instruct all participants in remote meeting procedures

  3. Ensure your team/members have the cyber training required to uneventfully meet online - cybersecurity is a big issue these days with hackers and spammers sprouting up all over the world wide web.

  4. Check-in with your staff and members constantly. Prioritize their satisfaction with the new remote meeting and work environments. There’s no such thing as too much feedback - criticism and compliments ensure that you’re on the right track to success.

While these measures protect your staff and participants, you need to make sure you have the right protection against other concerns. Insurance can cover most of the expenses related to backfired-plans, however well-intended - prevention rarely works 100% of the time. To deal with the aftermath of various liability and/or cyber risks, consider an insurance policy that fully matches your needs.

Carriage Trade Insurance deals specifically with finding you the best kind of financial protection for your organization at the best price available - contact them to learn more.
