Whether we admit it or not, we all have been guilty of some form of distracted driving at some point. Phone calls, loud conversation and needy children are just a few of the reasons that drivers get distracted. Drivers who are distracted and fail to focus their full attention on the road are the leading cause of most crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They injure themselves, their passengers and other drivers. Here are some tips to prevent distracted driving from taking place in your vehicle:

·         Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

·         Pull off the road to a safe area or ask a passenger to make or take a call for you.

·         Suspend conversation during hazardous driving conditions.

·         Do not engage in stressful or emotional conversations while driving.

·         Set your GPS destination, your favorite radio station or MP3 player and finish eating before pulling into traffic.

Take your time getting to your destination, stay focused and plan ahead. These tips should help you avoid the consequences of distracted driving.
